Overnight oatmeal in glass mason jars is the perfect breakfast food for busy people. It is made the night before by combining all the ingredients into the jar and simply placing in the refrigerator overnight. It makes the rush to get out in the morning so much easier. Just open the refrigerator, and there it is, a healthy and quick breakfast waiting for you!
Jump to RecipeRight now peaches are in season, and peach overnight oatmeal sounded really great on a late summer morning. Peaches are an excellent addition to this breakfast meal; juicy, sweet and flavorful!
A pint-sized mason jar is ideal for this. It is an easy container for mixing the ingredients and doubles as a ‘to-go’ jar for hurried mornings. If you do not have a canning jar, any jar roughly a pint in size with a wide mouth and lid will also work.
Using equal parts of milk, yogurt and regular rolled oatmeal add these to the jar. Then add a sweetener (I used honey), along with chia seeds and cinnamon. Close the jar and shake it until it was well combined.
Then add chopped peaches on top and put in the refrigerator for the night. The oatmeal will absorb the liquids and soften, and therefore it does not need to be cooked. This is what makes overnight oatmeal so popular—no cooking, no microwave!
